The Rope Person of the Month no.5 for June 2007 is:

Martin Joffre

Martin is another of the people that I’ve met through the UK_Rope yahoo group and the Coventry workshops (here). He’s a rigger and photographer, but the main reason he’s here is that he also makes his own bondage equipment and furniture to enhance his ropework and to share with other people at parties etc.. I saw a suspension frame he’d built at one of the workshops and really liked the look of it. We got to talking, and the idea of using the frame in a Convolvulus shoot came up. We did it at the shoot with Emily Cartwright, and Martin’s frame and bondage seat feature prominently in the results. He also brought a pair of rather nice wooden ankle spreaders along, but we didn’t get around to using those. Another time, perhaps?
Anyway, I’m looking forward to more cooperation with Martin in future shoots.

Martin’s furniture is simple in design, materials and construction, but it looks the part and - having now used it in action - I can say it’s very sturdy and fully up to the job. The frame comes apart into three main parts and a few smaller bits, and it’s not much more than a ten-minute job to assemble it or take it apart.
